Brea Museum & Historical Society Celebrates The Big Game Centennial Anniversary
Did you know that 100 years ago, baseball legends Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth played baseball in Brea? To commemorate this historic event, the Brea Museum & Historical Society is hosting an exhibition game on October 26, 2024, at the Brea Sports Park starting at 8:00 am.
The original game, which featured a dozen baseball greats, was held as a fundraising event for the Anaheim Elks. It put the small town of Brea on the map and is considered to be, one of the greatest exhibition games of all time.
The centennial celebration will include a pancake breakfast, exhibition games with Little League and Girl’s Softball, The Big Game re-enactment, and plenty of food and games for the whole family. Former San Diego Padre and Cy Young Award winner Randy Jones will be throwing out the first pitch, with other baseball personalities available for interviews and autographs.
Rare game photos will be on display, making this a must-see event for baseball fans and history enthusiasts alike. Save the date for October 26, 2024, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Brea Sports Park located on Birch at Valencia.
