Baseball in Brea

Did you know that 100 years ago, baseball legends Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth played baseball in Brea? Well Brea’s baseball history goes back even further than that; in fact it goes back to before it was Brea, because our baseball history started in Olinda.

Our exhibit at the Museum traces that history back to 1902, when John Martin started the Olinda Oil Wells (a team Walter Johnson would play for).
The exhibit includes dozens of photos, score books, panoramic images, and a baseball signed by Walter Johnson and Babe Ruth.
You can even hear 1st graders from Laurel Elementary narrate some of the label copy.
