Edna Shaffer

W.D. and Edna Shaffer were both beloved members of the early Brea community. From early 1922 until their death in 1946 they were both instrumental in the early development of life in Brea. W.D. purchased the old Brea Tool Works Company buildings to operate an oil tools repair business, but Shaffer was an inventor at heart, and it was not long before he secured patents for several oil tools, gaining recognition in the international oil industry. While W. D. was busy with the oil industry, Edna was busy with Brea civic affairs. A charter member of Brea Women’s Club, Edna was instrumental in many of the community affairs in Brea for more than 20 years.
